The goal of the Chinese Weekend School of Aarhus Chinese Cultural Association (hereinafter called “ACCA”) is to provide a quality Chinese language education to students in a fun and joyful way. So that each student can meet their personal needs: communicate in Chinese, read and write in Chinese, and understand Chinese culture through the learning process. Furthermore, our students can use Chinese as one of the ways to understand, think and express themselves.
In 1993 the Chinese Weekend School of ACCA was established. It is a weekend school. The initiation of creating a Chinese weekend school in Aarhus was to offer a Chinese language education to the children of Chinese immigrants in Aarhus. In past 20 years, we never stopped teaching Chinese, no matter how many students we had. Some of the students studied with us for more than eight years. We successfully helped more than 50 students to reach a certain level of Chinese language and to be able to receive further education in Chinese.
Recent years we have seen increasing interests of learning Chinese among Danish people and second, the third generation of Chinese immigrants. Our Chinese school students are extending as well. Currently, we have two classes: beginner level and primary level with total 16 students from age 5-13. Except ordinary teaching at class, we also learn Chinese through fun activities. Singing songs, playing games, reading books, watching Chinese movies, making presentations and Chinese New Year show, etc. We hold Chinese Language Summer Camp. A Chinese library, adult class, Chinese calligraphy class and Kongfu class are under investigation as well.
